The following members of the Gibson Elementary School community were honored for Riverview Excellence during the September 24 RGSD Board of Education Meeting.
Adrien Seals is a first-grade student who comes into the office every morning to greet the staff and say hello to the fish and gecko. He has become a friend to a kindergarten scholar who comes in every morning crying. Adrien walks in with this scholar every morning and if Adrien gets to school before the scholar, he will come down to the lobby to help that scholar get to class. Since doing this, our scholar does not cry anymore because Adrien was able to help him feel comfortable at school.
Gibson Custodial Staff- Chris Campbell, Ashley Williams and Pam Churchman have worked very hard this summer and since school started to make sure the building is clean. Gibson Elementary School is down a custodian and each one of them has picked up the slack with overtime, extra duty and being available when needed. We are very grateful for their hard work and dedication to Gibson Elementary School.
Damon Dear the grandfather of Jeffery Williams stepped in to support getting one of our scholars to school every day, on time, ready to learn. This grandparent understood how important it is to be at school daily and even more important to be there on time. He said, "I'll handle it," when he found out there had been some challenges with arriving at school or even being at school. He drops off and picks up every day. For that we salute him.
