The Riverview Gardens School District (RGSD) is committed to maintaining financial stability while continuing to prioritize student success. With the conclusion of federal ESSER (Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief) funding, RGSD must rightsize its budget to align with sustainable revenue sources.
Over the past three years, RGSD has made significant investments to support students’ social-emotional well-being and provide competitive salaries to attract and retain high-quality educators. While these investments have positively impacted the district, the expiration of ESSER funds requires adjustments to ensure fiscal responsibility moving forward.
“Our district has been proactive in addressing the needs of our students and staff, particularly in response to the challenges of recent years,” said RGSD Superintendent Tanya Patton, Ed.D. “As we transition away from ESSER funding, we must take necessary steps to align our budget with ongoing resources while continuing to prioritize student learning.”
The budget rightsizing plan will focus on strategically reducing expenses and minimizing the impact on students and classrooms. The district will evaluate operational efficiencies, streamline resources and explore cost-saving measures while maintaining essential educational services.
RGSD is committed to transparency and stakeholder engagement throughout this process. The district will provide regular updates and opportunities for input from staff, parents and the community.
“We recognize that any budget adjustment can bring challenges, but we remain dedicated to making informed decisions that allow us to maintain a high-quality education for our students,” Patton added.
