Fathers Walk MO-ECAC

It is crucial for young children to see positive Black role models, men of the community and fathers. It reinforces their sense of identity, self-worth, and belonging. When children witness strong, loving, and engaged Black men in their lives, they see what is possible for themselves and the broader community. Events like fathers walk-Where male figures walk their children to school is significant because they visibly demonstrate the importance of fatherhood, strengthen the bond between fathers and children, and challenge negative stereotypes about men and men of color.

These moments create a powerful image of support, protection, and pride that children carry with them as they grow. October Series during late start

For the walks, we will ask all father figures to wear white shirts in solidarity of peace. Each walk will start at the front of each school and walk a block or the perimeter of the parking lot or school and back depending on location. Our staff will have tables set up and some type of picture area where they can get a donut, drink and take a picture with their student.

We have partnered with Moline Acres, St. Louis County and North County Cooperative Police Departments to help with traffic and crowd control. Once the walks are finished the officers will join us in letting the male figures know that we see them and are proud of them.

In addition, RGSD has partnered with Man Up Global, 100 Black Men, Father’s Support Center, Better Family Life, fraternities and area pastors to be in the mix as we greet and honor the male figures.
