AMI Day Jan. 8

Riverview Gardens School District will observe an AMI/Virtual Learning Day on Wednesday, January 8 due to road conditions on many of the side streets throughout our community. We are concerned with transporting our students safely on school buses, as well as the safety of our students who walk to school. This decision was made with the health and safety of the RGSD community in mind. All scholars should log onto their virtual classroom at normal class times.

All in-person meetings or events scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 8 will need to occur virtually, be rescheduled or be canceled.

During an AMI Day, in-person classes are canceled, but students will take part in independent learning activities with online teacher support.

  • Students in grades 4-12 should check their email and/or log into Google Classroom at the start of the AMI school day to view instructions from their teachers

  • Families of students in grades K-3 should assist scholars with checking their email, as well as check their personal email to view instructions from teachers

All teachers will have virtual office hours from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. and from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. to provide scholars with support.

Important for Good Attendance:

In order for students to be marked as present on AMI Days, students must:

  • Log into Google Classroom, complete the assigned work AND turn the completed work into their teachers on the day they return to in-person instruction

Parents, please assist RGSD towards improving student attendance by ensuring that your student logs into their Google Classroom and completes the assignment(s).

Temperatures may remain extremely cold for the upcoming weeks. Parents, please be sure to dress your children appropriately for the cold weather on days when school is in session. If your child needs a coat or other winter clothing, please contact your school’s front office. Riverview Gardens School District has community partnerships in place and may be able to help.
